Glaxcin Prison initially appeared to be exactly what it sounded like, with an interdimensional twist. Prisoners were accused of crimes and told that they were being incarcerated to rehabilitate them.

Except... what kind of prison is constantly tossing its inmates into simulated combat?

It slowly became apparent that there were many Wardens with many prisons, involved in an elaborate war game. And Glaxcin was losing. Badly. The one thing it had going for itself, though, was the strength of the facility. Hiding behind the strength of his walls, the Warden began to rebuild his army by reaching across worlds. In his desperation, some of his choices were, to say the least, interesting, and some gambles have panned out better than others. He found superpowers particularly promising, if only he could find a way to make sure everyone had them - thus, scientific experimentation was a popular hobby of his, as well as forcing his prisoners into simulated combat to turn them into a viable army.

When the attack came, however, it was not expected, and the Warden was unprepared. But having amassed as his army some very capable people across various universes, Glaxcin Prison was able to defend itself and emerge as a victor. The Warden, however, was not so lucky. He was found in his quarters and interrogated before being (presumably) murdered. His lover, a woman who helped to control and run Glaxcin at his side, met the same fate.

Now Glaxcin stands as an independant facility, run and operated by its soldiers who, unfortunately, remain prisoners until they are able to reverse the move back to their own worlds. In the meantime, they will train, survive, and rescue other prisoners in different facilities from brutal fates.

Art Room (on the first floor)

There are a number of tables in the art room that are lined with paper. Cans containing paint, small bottles of water, and brushes are placed on the tables, along with crayons, coloured pencils and stacks of extra paper.

Dining Hall (on the first floor, accessible from the second)

The Dining Hall is a large, airy room filled with an assortment of long banquet tables and large round tables for prisoners to sit and eat. In the corner is a massive food replicator that, at the touch of a button and a few typed commands, produces whatever prisoners want to eat, with accompanying plastic cutlery and dishware.

Game Room (on the third floor)

In the game room there are the following:

*Pool tables (with cue sticks, racks and balls set at each table)
*Dart boards (with plastic darts)
*Air hockey
*Poker tables (with plastic chips to play with and cards)
*Other gaming tables (diverse on what can be played on these; players can pick a game that is from their character's world.)

Gym (on the first floor)

The gym is equipped with free weights, weight machines, treadmills, a hanging punching bag and a mat area, as well as a 'changing room' with sneakers, shorts and shirts of various sizes.

Infirmary/Psych Ward (on the first floor, accessible from the second)

Initial access to the infirmary is through a waiting room full of uncomfortable plastic chairs and low tables. There is a collection of magazines about sports none of the prisoners have ever heard of as well as children's colouring books. There are several decks of cards, though many of them are missing at least one card.

The main infirmary is full of gurneys separated by curtains. The edges of the room are lined with all sorts of high tech medical equipment covered in flashing lights and made of shiny metal. There is also older medical equipment tucked into alcoves. All medication, from potent narcotics to simple vitamins, is kept in a large cabinet with a keypad lock, but more general supplies can be found loose in drawers. There is a toilet in one corner, also behind a curtain.

There are several private rooms off to the main infirmary. These feature beds with restraints for more uncooperative patients. They can also be used for more severe cases or those requesting privacy.

There is also an office, sealed with the same keypad lock as the medicine cabinet. In this room, medical staff can find full medical records on all prisoners. These records are laminated.

The psych ward has a separate entrance than the infirmary. It features a similarly stocked waiting room. There are four rooms which include a table, one chair and a speaker through which prisoners may communicate with the prison psychiatrist. On the second floor, there are larger rooms featuring padded walls that are used for larger groups.

Laundry Room (two identical areas, one on each floor)

The laundry rooms on both floors have small bottles of detergent and bleach along with machines for washing and drying.

Library (on the first floor)

The library is large, brightly lit and without a trace of dust; the walls are lined with books and there are several rows of bookshelves. Prisoners are able to sit and read in the small cubby areas, floor cushions, and tables that are available throughout the room.

Monitor Room (on the first floor)

Inside the monitor room is an array of computer screens. The screens show different rooms in the prison, and from multiple angles. There are chairs set up by the monitors for the prisoners to sit on and watch. Monitors include sound and volume can be adjusted via knobs alongside the screens.

Pool Area (on the third floor)

In the pool area, there are the following:

*Sauna
*Two hot tubs
*Self serving bars (diverse alcohol: players can choose to have drinks from their characters world); there is also a sign saying "Quark's" over the bar
*Pool
*Changing room
*Supply room (inner tubes,rafts,water toys)
*Tables and chairs to sit at.

Recreation Area (on the first floor)

The Recreation area is outside and surrounded by an intimidatingly tall wall; if someone where to test its height they would find that it seems to go on forever. It completely wraps around the recreational area and is made of an unusual solid enforcement that would be almost inhumanly impossible to break.

The most noticeable feature is an area in the corner of the lawn that is taken up by a motley array of tombstones, all of them covered in the names of prisoners who have disappeared from the prison (see dropped characters). Most of the rec area is grassland, save for a large swath of concrete at one side, and there is a large dirt track for prisoners to do laps on, should they wish. Also located in the recreation area are benches, some nice trees, and a swing set.

Shower Room (two identical areas, one on each floor)

There are two tables. One has soap (both liquid and bar), shampoo and conditioner on it. The other has towels and sets of grey prison clothes folded neatly on it.

The shower room is an open area where lines of shower heads adorn the walls. At each shower head there is a tiny caddy for soap, shampoo and conditioner. There is also a single hook on the caddy to place a towel on.

Weapons Room (on the first floor)

The weapons room is rarely open but when it is prisoners will find many weapons piled high and haphazardly on shelves or displayed on the wall, including some handheld weapons that the prisoners used in their own world.

Wardrobe (on the second floor)
The inside of the room is large and almost cavernous, slightly darker than other rooms but lit in various places with spotlights. The room features maze-like rows of coat racks, tables, chairs, cupboards, trunks, and anything else which may be used to store or display. The room is absolutely stuffed full of clothes.

From parkas, army gear, ball gowns, and questionable outfits made entirely out of belts, this room has it. There is any and every type of clothing imaginable, from footwear to adornments such as hats and jewellery, all in varying sizes. The place has some form of organization, but still seems very haphazard; and everything comes only in a shade of grey, from nearly-black to pristine silver. Differently shaped and sized mirrors are propped about every so often, giving prisoners a chance to look themselves over. This is Glaxcin Prison's new Wardrobe. After some wandering, prisoners will also come across dressing screens.

The Prison: Glaxcin
Glaxcin is located on an island of mostly rock, which is far offshore and untrackable, on a mostly forgotten planet. It is partially self sustaining, though for many things the inhabitants must venture out on supply runs, ambushes, and scouting missions. While Glaxcin is one of many war facilities that has a connection to an interdimensional war game, its strength has been its technology, which allows it to 'pluck' things from other universes (sometimes people, sometimes objects).
For a description of Glaxcin and how it connects to Norsun, check the maps and layout page.

The Prison: Norsun
Norsun was the attacking facility, whose members were entirely wiped out during the battle. Using the technology of Glaxcin and the know-how of its current Warden, Glaxcin and Norsun are now connected via a variety of interdimensional corridors and doors. Norsun is located on top of a mountain, surrounded by a thick forest where dark creatures run amok, and is designed to look like a cross between a medieval castle and a temple. It is the only other war facility located on the same planet as Glaxcin is. Thanks to the creatures, venturing outside its walls is difficult, though not strictly impossible with sufficient preparation.
For a description of Norsun and how it connects to Glaxcin, check the maps and layout page.

The Warden
Currently, Glaxcin (and therefore, Norsun) is headed by Loki, who attained power via bloody coup in the midst of battle (and, also, happened to be the one person in Glaxcin with the powers and bloody mindedness to take the job). He isn't exactly very good, and the prison still needs others to help run various areas properly. For example, the Infirmary is almost entirely under the control of Dr Martha Jones and those who assist her.

The Prisoners
There are two types of prisoners - those who are the original inhabitants of Glaxcin, before the coup, and those who are beginning to be rescued from connecting facilities. They can move between Glaxcin and Norsun and venture out onto the rest of the planet, but are still unable to reach home again.

Powers
The walls of Glaxcin are specially designed to tamp down on powers and other abilities of its inhabitants to a stifling 10% of natural abilities, and absolutely no learned abilities, though this can be changed with interference from the current Warden. When outside of Glaxcin, powers return at full strength.
The only areas where this does not apply is in the training area in the basement, and often within the simulation room, where powers tend to operate at 50%.

War Games
Glaxcin and Norsun are still under threat by other facilities to take part in the war games. However, by keeping up a strong defense and running both Glaxcin and Norsun well enough to remain a dangerous enough foe to keep attackers at bay.
Additionally, the planet itself is occupied by several forces engaged in a war of their own; it is these forces that prisoners are often forced to plunder from to maintain their own defences.

The Uniform

Ah, the uniform! All arriving prisoners are automatically outfitted in the uniform. Style and colour depend on whether or not they arrive in Glaxcin or Norsun territory.

Glaxcin

Glaxcin Prison

Norsun

norsun

This is the full uniform. Most prisoners arrive in pants, shirt, jacket and boots, with additional items such as sandals, and extra sets of shirts and pants, appearing in cells and shower rooms. For Norsun, prisoners arrive in pale blue boots; the dark blue shoes are found in cells, suited entirely for indoor work.

If a character requires particular clothing in order to survive such as a life support system, they will be provided with the equipment in equally glorious grey or blue. Someone's been keeping them alive all this time, after all. Be sure to mention any requirements of this nature on your application, as the mods are not necessarily familiar with all canons.

starting out in the game
Each character you debut as a player will have been rescued from another facility similar to Glaxcin Prison, but they will have no memory of their time in that facility, and will only remember the time before they were ever captured. This can be blamed on an implant all prisoners have embedded in the back of their necks. The implant 'wipes the slate' for when Wardens take over one another's facilities and inherit new soldiers, and helps in their reprogramming. This implant can transmit pain and exert control, but can also be programmed with a number of useful features, such as language translation.

When rescued by Glaxcin, your character can choose to have the implant removed completely, to keep it, or to have it removed with some edits to the reprogramming (removing pain transmitters, keeping informational upgrades) before being inserted once again.

prison life
Once heavily controlled, Glaxcin is now run by the prisoners. It is headed by the official Warden, but several tasks have been broken down and delegated to others. Prisoners can be as involved or uninvolved as they like.

Glaxcin is connected to another prison, Norsun, which prisoners are free to move between. Note that when we describe Glaxcin and its days, this also includes Norsun.

posting
Glaxcin's days are numbered - as a game, anyway. A month in real time equals to one day in game. On the first Sunday of every month, the mods will set up a post declaring details of Glaxcin's and Norsun's day. This can involve anything from the weather (usually quite freakish), to training simulations, to expeditions. It also lists which rooms might be open or shut for the day (for example, the Library might only be available to those who work inside of it for a reorganization, or the gym might be shut for renovation).

The post is the official sign for the beginning of a new Glaxcin. All posting in the community between mod posts will detail activity occurring on that Glaxcin day.
For example:
On February 2nd, the mod post goes up, signalling the beginning of Glaxcin Day 39, which in real time will run between Feb 2nd to March 2nd.
Between that time, players will post or link drop within the community that happenings of their characters during that time.
On March 2nd, the mod post for Glaxcin Day 40 with occur. All posts between March 2 to April 4 will occur on Day 40.

Game play can occur directly in the main community, or in players' journals and then link dropped as a new post if you wish to keep access limited or are playing out something NSFW. If link dropping, make certain you get the link on the community before the day changes. All posts must be tagged with the correct number. This also goes for posting on the Network.

You must be 18 years or older
No exceptions. This is an adult game. If we discover you are under eighteen, you will be banned.

Be courteous.
In Glaxcin, we stick to all the tried and true role playing rules. Don't godmod, don't be disrespectful, and don't mistake a character's behaviour for a player's behaviour. We are all adults here, and we will act like it.

Keep up with your characters.
Glaxcin Prison's current activity rule is to post at least once every two months (roughly once every two Glaxcin days). Every few months the mods will clean house and if your character has not met requirements, we will remove them. You will not receive a warning, but you will be informed of the removal. This is in case we make a mistake and accidentally remove a character who has posted (oops!). Presumably if you haven't done anything in two months and haven't formally hiatused, then you're not interested in the game anyway.

Notify us of absences.
If you need to take a break from the game or will be unavailable (sickness, school demands, moving houses, your computer blew up and you're actually typing to us from an internet cafe, etc) you can post a notice in [community profile] glaxcinplayers. You don't need to give us a reason, but it would be nice, especially if you plan on disappearing for a lengthy span of time. If you're just going to be missing for a day or two then we honestly don't care, but if you're gone for a couple of weeks we might. Generally, just make sure the mods know and anyone you might be plotting with knows where you've gone.

Be careful with 'outing'.
In our game, when one character says to the other "I know exactly who you are and where you're from", this is considered "outing". We allow this, but we wish it to be reasonable and, if possible, established very solidly in character canon. For example: characters from Doctor Who know all about the Harry Potter books, and characters from Watchmen may recognize Superman. Before engaging in this, however, check and see if the other player is comfortable with it.

Just remember: everyone has a right to exist. And it's impolite to walk up and tell someone they don't.

*Reserves last for one month. Due to the lengthy reserve time and goldfish memories, the mods will likely not dog you for an extension/reminder unless we happen to remember. ;)

Rescue vs. Accidental
Every member of Glaxcin Prison was recruited as a warrior. At the moment, all new prisoners who enter Glaxcin are, in fact, rescued from connecting facilities. They will have no memories of their past incarceration, however, and will only remember their lives before they were taken from their home worlds.

Appropriate Characters and Requirements

type. Characters should be humanoid in nature. If the character is not humanoid, but does have a complicated enough backstory and personality to be human, then they can enter Glaxcin Prison in human form. For example, a character from Transformers, or a Pixar character, may be given human form. Characters taller than 8 feet or shorter than 2 feet must be resized to fit.

age. Due to the nature of the RP and its setting, characters should be old enough to cope. Generally we look for teenagers or older; however, there will be some exceptions based on character backstory (Arya Stark, for example, is definitely a viable character to app).

canon. Keep in mind that Glaxcin is, in fact, a war facility, and its members have been recruited to act as soldiers. There are some canons which do not yield viable characters with this in mind. This is probably not the right game for Cookie Monster, as hilarious as that would be.

alternate universes. We accept characters that have different versions spanning different canons. For example, the character of Sherlock Holmes has more than one incarnation. Direct adaptations are generally treated as being the same character. Exceptions may be made in cases where the adaptation differs dramatically from the source, but this is handled on a case by case basis and should be discussed with the mods. Fan created AUs are not appable.

Character Limits

unlimited. At the moment, you can have as many as you want, so long as you can handle them. However, if we notice you're struggling in the activity department, we reserve the right to decline applications for additional characters.

playercest. We don't want any one player to commandeer an entire canon and be stuck interacting with only themselves, and so if you are to control two characters from the same canon, make sure they are distant enough from one another that they don't need to heartily interact. You can have a maximum of two characters from a single canon.

Character Creation

headcanon. We are a game that welcomes headcanon - in some cases. When you are applying for a character in a tv show that has had a multitude of seasons, then we want as little headcanon as possible. When applying for secondary characters, however, it is a must. We want to see that you have a vision of this character formulated. When applying, please let us know when the facts end and the headcanon begins.

believability. We don't want to just believe in the character - we want to believe in you! Show us that you understand your character and can play them to a T.

How to Apply

Use the form below, after thoroughly checking that the character has not already been taken. If you have any questions about the form, please contact a mod.
To apply, create a character journal, and make an entry with your application. Then, reply to this post with a link to it. All comments are screened.

Copy and paste the application text in the box below. We will try to process your application as soon as we can, however, things do happen. To streamline the process, please read the rules first before applying. There are no specific length requirements for each point, but we do expect enough content to paint a well rounded picture of the character. How much this requires largely depends on how much canon material a character has to work with. While we don't expect a term paper for the history section, we want it to touch on the major events that made the character who they are. Similarly, the personality section should be long enough for us to see who they are.

Once Accepted

Once accepted make a Dreamwidth account for your character and join [community profile] glaxcinprison, [community profile] glaxcin_network and [community profile] glaxcinplayers.
